New Jersey reports 8 new COVID-19 deaths, 669 new cases

TRENTON, N.J. (1010 WINS) -- Gov. Phil Murphy reported 699 new COVID-19 cases and eight new deaths on Thursday, six of which happened in August. 

A total of 186,594 COVID-19 tests conducted in New Jersey have come back positive, and 14,054 people have died of complications related to the virus, Murphy tweeted. 

Three of the eight people who died passed away on Aug. 10; one passed away on Aug. 9; one passed away on Aug. 7; one passed away on Aug. 6; one passed away in July; and one passed away in May, he said. 

As of Wednesday evening, 545 people in New Jersey were hospitalized with confirmed or probable COVID-19 cases, 103 of whom were in intensive care units and 28 of whom were on ventilators, the state’s COVID-19 tracker shows.
