When AWOLNATION singer Aaron Bruno visited the ALT 92.3 Radio studios in NYC, he sat down to give fans a little insight into his songwriting process and -- possibly more importantly -- what bands he's listening to at the moment. So get a pen ready and come along for the ride!

"I never have some sort of grand plan when I sit down to write a song," Bruno tells ALT 92.3 Radio's Omar Torres."It just comes pretty naturally. I want the music to feel and be presented as honest as possible. That's very important to me."

With the band currently on tour to promote their latest album Here Come The Runts, Bruno says the live experience is also all about honesty and giving fans an unforgettable, and organic, show.

"When you come to see our live show, we don't have tracks blaring through the PA system or backing vocals or acoustic guitar piping through the PA system without anyone playing it. That seems like you're cheating the listener to me.

"It's a real experience, for sure."

AWOLNATION singer Aaron Bruno also broke down some of the bands he's been listening to at the moment...

Kicking it off with alt-j, Bruno admits the band's new record RELAXER is good but says it was their first album An Awesome Wave that stopped him "in his tracks." Coming in second for Bruno is St Vincent, where he admits he finds the way Annie Clarke "sarcastically" utilizes her guitar can be "intimidating."

Be sure to watch the video above for some of Bruno's other picks that you may or may not be expecting. (SPOILER: He's a big fan of his tourmates, who he also produced an album for!)
