New Music Discovery: Jagwar Twin - Loser

September 12, 2018

You might not know Roy English yet, but you will.

The singular voice behind the Jagwar Twin name, English delivers his first single for the project, "Loser", and it gives the rare impression of a grandslam, a song that feels at once fresh and familiar, while simultaneously saying quite simply - "I've arrived".  Backed by a lazy-day beat and some sun-rinsed guitars, the laidback track serves as our first taste of his debut album, 'Subject To Flooding', which drops September 21st, and comes peppered with a shortlist of impressive collaborators.  Sidelined Blink-182 drummer, Travis Barker contributes, alongside producers S1 and Jeff Bhasker, who's past projects include work on now iconic albums with Kanye West, Mark Ronson, Fun, Taylor Swift, and more.

The 30 year old Los Angeles native has shared little else regarding his new project, though a little digging reveals he's a scene veteran backed by an impressive team (former longtime Green Day manager, Pat Magnarella is overseeing), with past accolades including an opening tour slot for Five Seconds Of Summer, and top lines for EDM staple, Alesso.

Sharing a brief statement on the song, English says “We all walk around with masks on, disguised as what we think the world wants to see. But if everyone was to remove their masks they would come to find that we are all just human underneath; that we are all losers".
