The National Announce ‘Homecoming Festival’ For This Spring

January 8, 2018

By Joe Cingrana

Ohio rockers The National have revealed the official line up for their inaugural Homecoming Festival in association with MusicNOW.

Taking place in the band’s hometown of Cincinnati, Ohio, performances by Father John Misty, Future Islands, the Breeders, Feist, Julien Baker, Alvvays, Big Thief, Moses Sumney, and Lord Huron, are already set for April 28 and 29 at Cincinnati’s Smale Riverfront Park — with more acts to be announced.

The National will obviously headline each night, with special shows planned to keep it interesting for fans planning to make a weekend out of it.

The National’s Bryce Dessner has also revealed the initial lineup for his MusicNOW Festival running from April 27th through 29th at multiple venues across Cincinnati with performances by Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith, Mouse on Mars, eighth blackbird (with Bonnie “Prince” Billy), and Kristín Anna Valtýsdóttir (formerly of Múm).

The Cincinnati Ballet will perform a piece based on Dessner’s Murder Ballads featuring choreography by the New York City Ballet’s Justin Peck (who previously directed the “Dark Side Of the Gym” music video for the National).
