Jon Bon Jovi Offering Free Meals to Furloughed Federal Workers in Red Bank

If you are paying ANY attention to the news, things are insane. But there are still good people out their using their various powers for good.  Key example, Jon Bon Jovi.

The longest government shutdown in history is hitting the 29 day mark and Friday will bring another payday without a paycheck for many local families. Trying to help ease the burden slightly for some of those families, Jon Bon Jovi and his wife Dorothea are opening the doors of their Red Bank restaurant, Soul Food, for two hours today. The eatery posted on their Facebook Saturday, "In line with our mission, Federal workers are encouraged to join us for a delicious meal and to learn about additional support and resources available in our community."

If you are furloughed, stop by Soul Kitchen at 207 Monmouth Street in Red Bank today (Monday) for a farm-to-table meal from 12-2pm.

The Murphy Foundation, the philanthropic organization of New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy and his wife Tammy, is partnering with Soul Kitchen to provide meals.

Soul Kitchen is a "Community Restaurant" that serves paying and in-need customers. If you can't pay, you can volunteer your time at the eatery to cover the cost of you and up to four family members. Pretty cool concept, right?
