Thursday night (Aug. 30th), Eminem dropped a surprise 13-track album called Kamikaze. In one of the tracks, "The Fall," Eminem uses the homophobic slur f----t, aimed at fellow artist Tyler, the Creator. He raps, "Tyler create nothin’, I see why you called yourself a f----t, bitch / It’s not just ‘cause you lack attention, it’s ‘cause you worship D12’s balls, you’re sacrilegious."

Twitter immediately started lashing out at Eminem, one of those most vocal voices being Imagine Dragons' Dan Reynolds. While he didn't specifically name Em, he tweeted, "It’s never ok to say a word that is filled with hate. I don’t care what year you were born in or what meaning it has to you." I'm 1000% with Dan. There's really no justification for using hateful slurs. Empathy, kindness and respect seem to be getting lost in the fray lately. People throw weaponized words around casually without thought to how seriously hurtful and damaging they can be, then attempt to justify their behavior by claiming those who are offended by it are "weak". We need to step up as a society and say, "Enough!". Like Dan. It takes bravery to put yourself out there like that and use your platform to stand up for what is right.  I have mad respect for Dan Reynolds today.
