Ashe and Friends Paid Tribute to the Beach Boys

Celebrating the Anniversary of "Pet Sounds"

May 18, 2020

Originally, Ashe wanted to release her debut on 5.16, as a sort of nod to the anniversary of her favorite album of all time, Pet Sounds by the Beach Boys. Although her album has since been delayed, she felt she still wanted to do *something*. So, instead, she's curated a tribute by recruiting a bunch of her artist friends to cover the entire album, in sequence, on YouTube. Among those  who participated were AJR, Finneas, Bishop Briggs and Ryan Tedder.

Before the event, she told Variety, "I think it’s going to be really cool to introduce all of our fan bases to an album that maybe they haven’t heard before. That seems crazy to me because it’s always been my favorite album since I was a little kid. But I know that my high schooler and age 12-to-16 fans don’t know what ‘Pet Sounds’ is. They don’t know who Brian Wilson himself is. So this is going to be really legendary.”

AHHHH -- THIS IS SO IMPORTANT TO ME @finneas @ryantedder @ajrbrothers @jacobcollier @thatgirlbishop @alexander23lol @bristonmaroney @maxmusic @burgchar @blakerosemusic @maro.musica @supportandfeed @musicares

The tribute is called “In My Room: Celebrating 54 Year of Pet Sounds,”  and streamed on YouTube this past Saturday. While completely free, it was also a benefit to solicit donations for MusiCares and Support + Feed.
