Flea Picks His Favorite Chili Peppers Song of All Time

I was having a conversation with Adam Duritz of Counting Crows last week about "Mr. Jones." He kind of scoffed at the notion that the song you hear at least twice a day on ALT 92.3 had anything to do with the band’s success or mores their identity. It made me think about how different a band’s identity is from the one the public chooses to assign it.

I had this conversation in mind when chatting with Flea who’s catalog with the Red Hot Chili Peppers goes back four decades. Sure, the guy on the street is probably going to cite "Under The Bridge" and Keidis running direct to camera because the music video was beamed into every household ad nauseam in the mid-'90s, but what song does Flea think sums up the band?

What song means the most to him? I asked, and he told.

Check out the clip above and more from our conversation below.
