Currently in the midst of a massive tour with AWOLNATION, British rockers Nothing But Thieves have branched off across the pond, playing some solo dates in Europe before returning to the States for Coachella in April -- and then joining back up with AWOLNATION to close out their joint tour later this summer.

During the band's stop in New York City, singer Conor Mason, and guitarists Joe Langridge-Brown, and Dom Craik spoke with ALT 92.3 Radio's Omar Torres about their current single "Sorry" -- now playing on ALT 92.3 -- and the process that went into creating the hit.

Guitarist/keyboardist Joe Langridge-Brown remembers it being a collaborative effort, although he did pen the guitar lick quite a bit earlier while traveling through Europe.

"I remember writing the song as a whole pretty quickly," says Brown with agreement from Mason and Craik. "But the chorus/hook I had written in a splitter van in Europe the year before or something and just kept it, like 'oh that's going to be good for something!' It was one of those moments where Dom had this chorus --- part of the process for us is matching up the lyric to the mood of the song -- and when I heard what Dom was playing, I started searching through my phone."

"It's funny, it never comes that easily to get the lyrics and the music together that quickly," says Craik. It's almost like it was meant to fit in that gap like a bit of a puzzle and the pieces just came together. We listened to it back in the room and just cranked it and were like, 'this is good!' We rarely do that, to be honest. We're quite hard on ourselves and sometimes we need to sit with a song for months, if not years, to be like 'oh yeah that's good or bad' but this one it was quite apparent that  it was quite a strong song.
