Big thanks to Gothamist for sharing the NYPL's freshly released list of its most checked out books of all time. It's been compiled in honor of the library's 125th anniversary. My first job was at my local library, and I worked at a bookstore for a while in between radio jobs, so I always appreciate a good collection of stories.

At the top of the list: the absolutely lovely children's book The Snowy Day, by Ezra Keats. There are lots of kids's classics in the top ten, which makes sense: shorter books = less time to read = more opportunities to be checked out. Among those are The Cat in the Hat, Where the Wild Things Are, and a personal favorite from back in the day, Charlotte's Web! Love that spelling spider. There's also the first Harry Potter book, How To Win Friends and Influence People - and 1984, because... *gestures at everything*

Here's the full top ten, including the exact total of checkouts for each, and some ways to celebrate 125 years of the New York Public Library!
