Outrage culture is a snake eating its own tail - and it's always hungry. When perpetually angry people run out of substantial things to be upset about, they start looking around for something - anything - to sink their teeth into. And this week (as in many weeks past), the target has been Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-NY, Bronx represent. What did she do, years ago, to cause such a stir? She danced.

Forget politics. This is absurd. This is 2019 Footloose, except a small town has become the entire internet - or at least it feels that way, when a single tweet goes viral, and the original outrage becomes a drop that causes a ripple of OUTRAGE ABOUT THE OUTRAGE. Run-on sentences, caps lock, and hyperbole abound.

Look. Zack de la Rocha once said: "anger is a gift." This is not one of those times. There are plenty of people in power who have said or done something hurtful to the powerless, and that's worth getting upset about. But for dancing? And not hurting anyone? Nah.

And besides... you're not going to stop her anyway.
