Hear Powerful Local Stories from "I’m Listening" New York

September 11, 2019

We're in the middle of National Suicide Prevention Week, and I recently had some very powerful conversations about mental health and suicide prevention that aired as part of Entercom’s annual "I’m Listening" campaign.

WCBS 880’s Wayne Cabot and I spoke with Carli Bushoven of the Madison Holleran Foundation, and Dr. Frank Dowling and John Petrullo, who spoke on behalf of POPPA (Police Organization Providing Peer Assistance). Carli lost her sister Maddy to suicide at age 19: she was a New Jersey native, beloved family member and friend, and talented athlete. Dr. Dowling and POPPA director Petrullo are working with the NYPD at a time when 10 officers have died by suicide just this year. Hear their stories above.
