They say when one door closes, another opens, and that seems to be the case with Game of Thrones spinoffs. Yesterday we found out that HBO will no longer be moving forward with an "Age of Heroes" focused prequel, even though a pilot with Naomi Watts has already been filmed. Before GoT fans even had time to mourn, we got the good news that HBO has ordered a full series of a show called House of the Dragon. As the name implies, it'll be all about the Targaryen family, 300 years before the time of Daenerys Stormborn. And there will likely be both Fire and Blood.

Both of these pieces of news come right as there's fresh outrage about the original Game of Thrones series. Not gonna get into it, because I'm trying to keep my blood pressure down, but the two showrunners said some things over the weekend that have everyone doubting their commitment to the series in the first place. Which leads to the question: do we really need to revisit the world of Westeros right now? It's obvious that the source material means a lot to people, and further attempts to tell it visually are going to be heavily scrutinized. Would it be better to just give it a rest?

The answer, of course, is: not when there's money to be made!!! Anyway. No timetable yet, so maybe our entertainment palates will be cleansed just enough by the time House of the Dragon arrives. Here's everything we know about the show so far.
