"The room is on fire as she's fixing her hair." That's where the name of The Strokes' follow-up to their debut album Is This It comes from: a lyric from the song "Reptilia". (A younger Christine definitely used those words as an away message too.)

Room on Fire arrived almost 15 years ago, clocking in at just over half an hour, and it delivered more of the New York garage rock that initially made The Strokes critical darlings. And when Guitar Hero 3 fever gripped gamers everywhere a decade ago, it opened up a whole new audience for the band. I have fond (and occasionally frustrating) memories of mastering the "Reptilia" solo on a plastic guitar.

Future plans for The Strokes look murky, with the members doing their own projects and talk of a next album just rumors at this point. But we'll always have the early 2000s, and a soundtrack for days when the room still feels like it's on fire.
