We're a day away from the Gorillaz show at Barclays Center, so it seems like a good time to revisit the virtual band's early days. Damon Albarn of Blur and artist Jamie Hewlett officially started Gorillaz twenty years ago (although they'd been friends for longer than that) and released a self-titled debut in 2001.

It's hard to describe the sound of that first Gorillaz album - it combined at least a dozen different genres and introduced the world to some very unique animated characters. "Clint Eastwood" gets pretty regular airplay on ALT 92.3, but it was "19/2000" that really made me take notice of the band - specifically, the Soulchild remix. There's just something so fun and joyful about it - perfect for a sunny Friday afternoon.

Gorillaz have warned that it might be a looong time until their next tour, so hopefully the Barclays crowd brings it! Until then, here's both the remix and the official video for "19/2000".
