Independent breweries are the new vineyards. People love 'em. Currently New Jersey has 88 of them, but that number is in danger of going down after a harsh new ruling by the state. Basically, it demands that these popular craft beer spots stop providing fun for their paying customers.

For example, they're limited to 25 "special events" a year...trivia, sports on the tv, live music, that sort of thing. They only get 12 special permits a year to sell their beer off premises, and they only get to host 52 private parties, (birthdays, anniversaries, divorces) a year.

Needless to say, the owners are pissed. Of course there are some people who like these new rules, though, and you can read their side of it in the link.

However, if you're on the side of beer and the little guy, sign this petition!

Hopefully the state will realize the error of their ways.
