The Strokes are back ! ... kinda. NYC's golden boys revealed their homecoming alongside the announcement of this year's Governors Ball, which they'll headline on June 2nd.

Ahead of that appearance, the band reconvened this week to tackle their first show in 2 years at LA's Wiltern theater (likely wanting to waste the less rehearsed of these performances on the heathens of the west coast), and debuted a brand new song in the process.  Allegedly titled "The Adults Are Talking", it's a tune that boasts a driving and classic Strokes-ish bassline before dueling guitars kick in to cocoon frontman Julian Casablanca's restrained vocals.  After years of mixed reviews surrounding new material, it seems we may have another low-key banger on our hands people!!  For those who are counting, you can tack on another year to the above number, as this marks the first new music from the group in 3 years, begging the question if there's another full LP on the way.  I suppose a single or EP also stand as strong possibilities, but hell, let's shoot for the moon here.

Among a set that also boasted plenty of hits from "Last Night" and "12:51" to "You Only Live Once", "Hard To Explain", and live rarity "Ize of the World", the setlist also offered an unexpected cover of Erasure's "A Little Respect", which you guessed it, fans captured on video.  The cover followed a tease of "Nothing Compares 2 U", which perhaps they're saving for the trek out east.  Despite the somewhat active reunion, Casablancas continues to pull double duty with his other outfit The Voidz, who will play Gov Ball alongside the beloved NYC icons.  Honestly who knows, maybe they'll all just merge into one mega-group at some point here in the near future, I sure wouldn't put it passed Julian at this point.  Check out video of the aforementioned performance, and the band's full setlist, below.
