New Music Discovery: Mitski - Two Slow Dancers

the power of being quiet when everyones shouting

August 14, 2018

Dead Oceans signee Mitski comes to us from down the street, a New York local who's already amassed an impressive body of work (4 albums to be exact) consisting of gut wrenching, honest, and terminally relatable material.  Arguably her breakout came on 2016's Puberty 2, which boasted jams like "Your Best American Girl", "I Bet On Losing Dogs", and "Happy" - seriously go listen to all of those right now.  Anyway, she's back with an upcoming LP, 'Be The Cowboy', which seems poised to deliver on an eqaully mesmerizing level as it's predecessors. Already we've been treated to previews via the cinematic "Geyser" and charming "Nobody", now we're blessed with a third taste in "Two Slow Dancers", which finds it's power in sparse keys and a vocal bathed in soft intensity.

"We're just two slow dancers / Last ones out" she quietly croons, painting the image inside an empty high school gymnasium. It's perfect for all this rain we've been getting lately and probably still gonna be pretty great 5 years from now.

Check out the video for yourself, below, and pick up the album when it drops this Friday.
