The Beastie Boys Release Memoir

It's a big f*cking book

October 31, 2018

It's official.  The Beastie Boys have dropped their latest project - not an album, but a book chronicling the groups exploits across several decades of boundary pushing.

Penned by surviving members Michael Diamond and Adam Horowitz aka Mike D and Ad Rock, it's a thick lil guy that shares not only anecdotes from the guys themselves, but photos from heavily mined archives spanning decades of music, shenanigans, and seemingly good times.  Already the pair have begun a limited yet international tour in support of the release, wrapping 2 nights in NYC this week before heading to LA, London, and beyond, armed with not only their own whit, but a literal museum of artifacts from their storage space.

In addition to the book's release (which you can cop for yourself, here), the project also comes in a digital form - that's a book on tape for those of you not willing to do the math - and rather than read it themselves, the boys enlisted a star studded cast to take the reigns, and the list is long enough that I'm only gonna list some of the heavy hitters to save us all some time.  Here we go... Steve Buscemi, Bette Midler, Nas, Roy Choi, Jarvis Cocker, Elvis Costello, Amy Poehler, Chuck D, John C. Reilly, Snoop Dogg, Will Ferrell, Maya Rudolph, Kim Gordon, LL Cool J, Chloë Sevigny, Spike Jonze, Jon Stewart, Ben Stiller, Talib Kweli, Wanda Sykes, Jeff Tweedy, Rachel Maddow andddddd ok that feels like enough.

Anyway, the point is, we're talking about a New York institution here and if you know what a good coffee table looks like, you'll not only purchase this thing immediately, you'll actually crack the cover.  In the meantime, you can scope two audio previews from the book, here, because why would you read anything, when it's just so enjoyable to listen to famous people do something for you.
