Backstage at Brooklyn Steel: An Inside Scoop On NYC's Newest Venue

July 22, 2019

By: Miranda Roberts

Brooklyn Steel is a relatively new concert venue, so we’re here to give you the inside scoop.

This East Williamsburg venue kicked off with a New York band, LCD Soundsystem, playing their opening night on April 6th, 2017. Their sold-out five-night run kicked off the venue’s personal history. Since the debut performances, Catfish and the Bottlemen, Pixies, and Arctic Monkeys have graced the stage.

Just a year later, it was voted one of the ten best live music venues in America by Rolling Stone. The venue has a main floor, a balcony, three bars, and 40 restrooms. Parking is reasonable and you can check your coat.

Brooklyn Steel’s namesake is not steel guitars, but Eliou Steel Fabrication. This steelworks factory called 319 Frost Street home for over 40 years.

Builders repurposed lots of steel from the original building for the venue. A heritage to their history, but also an eco-friendly initiative. Brooklyn Steel has a green roof which contains sound without contaminating the planet.

Shows here feel intimate despite housing up to 1,800 people. A movable stage allows the capacity to fluctuate between 1,200 and 1,800 to maximize experiences for smaller audiences.

Hot Chip, K. Flay, and Matt Maeson will be playing at Brooklyn Steel this summer. Check out our concert calendar for more shows like these!

Brooklyn Steel is located at 319 Frost St, Brooklyn, NY 11222
