Artsy electronic duo Warren Fischer and Casey Spooner (Fischerspooner) are officially back with brand new music and tour dates — only in California for now — but if you caught their new stage show at Brooklyn Steel here in NYC back in October, you know what fans are in for.

SIR is the duo’s first album in nearly a decade, produced and co-written by R.E.M. frontman Michael Stipe and is set for release on February 16th — although you can stream the whole album via NPR right now.
According to Brooklyn Vegan, Stipe and Spooner have a storied past which connects perfectly on this new album. The story goes: Stipe was Spooner’s first boyfriend and this album SIR was “written in the same bedroom from that same era” and examines the issues of being middle-aged and gay, as well as taking on Donald Trump with Spooner “intentionally put[ting] forth the gayest version of himself on this album to push against Trump.”
Guest artists on SIR include Caroline Polachek, Holly Miranda, Andy LeMaster, Johnny Magee, and producer BOOTS (Beyonce, FKA twigs) on three tracks. Check out two brand new videos (which are pretty crazy, to say the least) below, as well as the band’s official tour dates.
